Rock Your Green Life

If green is the new black, what happens when our attentions are diverted to the next fad? Will polluted rivers once again run clean and extinct species become plentiful? Rock your Green Life is about showing how sustainability isn’t just a hippy thing. It’s about maximizing potential, increasing efficiency and optimizing systems, whether it be in business, your daily life or how you treat the planet.

Yale has been studying and working with sustainability issues at the academic, professional and entrepreneurial levels for the past 15 years. He understands that the environment is more than a passing fad. His vision is for sustainability thinking to be integrated into all aspects of human endeavour.

Following completion of a First Class Honours degree in Environmental Science and a few years in a university research facility, Yale spent twelve months volunteering in the Republic of Kiribati, a coral atoll nation in the Central Pacific. Although Kiribati is better known for its susceptibility to rising sea levels, it is unsustainable practices, particularly in the areas of waste and pollution management, that are most impacting upon daily life. Thus, while rising sea levels may be the definitive finale to generations of civilization, the beauty of these coral atolls and their ability to sustain human life has already been heavily compromised.

Upon returning to Australia, Yale worked for several years as an environmental consultant while completing a Masters in Environmental Engineering. In 2004, he started listening to his inner entrepreneur and after researching various opportunities, founded GeoExchange Australia Pty Ltd. GeoExchange is the now leading provider of Geoexchange Heating and Cooling Systems in Australia and New Zealand, achieving significant growth over its lifetime.

Yale is a member of, and certified with, the International Ground Source Heat Pump Association (IGSHPA), is the Vice President of the Australian Association for Sustainable Health Care (AASH) and is in the process of establishing the Geoexchange Association of Australia and New Zealand (GAANZ).

As well as his obvious passion for the environment and sustainability, Yale also passes him time playing football, running and pretending to do yoga.
